Jul 18, 2020 · HEI distributor for a Chevy 250 ci inline 6. My buddy wants to use a GM HEI distributor in his all stock 1974 Chevy C10 that came with a 250ci Inline 6 with a points distributor. I see that from '75 to '77, the HEI is the slim style, using an outside coil; starting in '78, it is the coil-in-cap distributor: does it make a difference in any way? It had the 258 inline 6 in it , but it started knocking . so I took it out , and I know it has the stock 3 speed in it to .So Like what would I have to alter so I can make it work .
